About Datchworth Pre-school

We have a fantastic, long-serving team of dedicated, caring and qualified staff who nurture children through their early educational years. Each child is assigned a key-worker who will keep a learning journey for your children’s developmental progress. An efficient management committee oversees administration and fundraising activities.

Our purpose-built class room has an enclosed garden and outdoor canopy with safety surface, enabling children to play outside regardless of the weather. Our range of constantly updated educational toys and equipment provides a safe, fun and stimulating environment. We have an interactive whiteboard and touchscreen computer for children to use to introduce and improve their ICT skills.

Our daily range of age-related activities in line with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) encourage children’s independence in preparation for Primary School. Children are divided into small groups for adult-led activities. We have a snack time which covers a diversity of healthy foods in line with our multicultural ethos. Children are free to help themselves to drinking water at all times.

As part of a community, we forge strong relationships with local services and parents and have regular educational visits from a range of vocations including nurses, police, fire-fighters and animal keepers. Our rural setting easily enables us to take the children on local walks across the fields and to our local village green.

We are open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 12.00pm. We also offer extended care lunch club for children who are three years plus. This is available Monday to Friday from 12 – 1pm (parents to provide lunches). Afternoon sessions are currently available to children aged over 3 years until 3pm on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We are flexible in regards to attendance days and accommodate most requests, subject to availability.
